Like announced end of last year, we aim to merge the Age of Conan servers early 2009. As the first step for this, we will merge the two US servers ‘Bloodspire’ and ‘Hyperborea’ this week on Wednesday 7th January.

It is important to know that during the time servers will be merged, all servers of the same territory (US or EU) will not be available. This means that during this week's downtime (estimated 6 hours) - where the two above mentioned servers are merged - all US servers will be unavailable.

After this first merge has been completed, we will announce the further plans for the other servers soon after.

Please note that this week we will also restart the EU servers. This has nothing to do with the server merges but is rather for maintenance. The EU servers will be down for an estimated duration of 3 hours.

Nope. We plan to complete the server merges as soon as possible. Meaning that when the two first US servers have been merged successfully, the merges of the other servers will very soon follow.

The list of which servers will be merged is getting finalized. We just want to be absoutely sure with everything before we announce it because wrong information would most probably lead to confusion and understandable bad feedback.

And the way we plan to merge the other servers is rather the Guardian manner ("one powerful clean cut") than the Dark Templar way ("long and painful") ... if you know what I mean.

Hmm. I was more referring to the nature of Dark Templars and the way they dispose of their enemies (brutal and sometimes sadistic). But I see your point so lets wait and see. :P

Tomorrow we will do the event on one server only and probably around noon CET. Then again on 29th up to the 31st with 3 events every day.

I understand your point. This event however is more to be taken as a community competition rather than a large scale in-game event. We had the choice to do some smaller happening on all servers or nothing at all so we went for the first. This does of course not mean that larger events like festivities etc. will not be possible in the future.

We are also aware that these kind of in-game happenings like the ones we now hold over the holiday season will never please everyone. This is just the nature of these sort of things. But we hope that some see them for what they are and enjoy still.

In celebration of the days getting longer now and the turning of the sun, we will hold an in-game competition on each Age of Conan server.

Players will have to hunt and kill a certain mountain goat we will have spawned. The exact location where this specific goat can be found will be told in form of riddles which we will post here on the forums as well as on the community portals. The location of the mountain goat will be different on each server to make it a bit more challenging.

Keep an eye out on this thread or the Season Event entries on the portal at 23rd, 24th, 29th, 30th and 31st of December. These will be the dates the competition will be held.

The event will run exactly once on each of the servers during the whole period of the competition (one single time on only one of the the 5 days mentioned above) so make sure you don't miss the one running on yours.




To give you an idea, here's an example of a possible riddle:

"Between the sunset and the dark night.
Where the clans trade
and the lion sells his goods."

The first line reveals the servername
The second line tells you about the playfield
The third line describes the exact spot

The first player to solve the riddle, finding the spot and killing the Mountain Goat will be declared the winner of that server.

Each winner will get a whole set of in-game items for Age of Conan. Each set contains:

• The brand new Snow Mammoth
• The War Mammoth
• The Killer Rhino
• Ring of Acheron
• Drinking Cape
• Bag of Holding
• Amazon Bow
• Totem of Origins

In addition, the winners also get 2 months of free game time.

So, what do you have to do again to win this prize on your server?

1) Check this thread or the Season Event entries on the community portal to read the riddle which will reveal the server, the playfield and the exact spot the Mountain Goat can be found at.


2) Go to that spot and find the Mountain Goat spawned there.


3) Be the first to kill the goat to become the winner and get the prize.


That's it.

The winners will receive the codekey by e-mail to activate all of the above mentioned in-game items for his/her Age of Conan gameaccount. The 2 months additional free game time will be activated by Funcom directly on the account.

All active/open accounts. You don't have to log in to have the gift attached to your account but you do have to log in to claim it whenever that may be. We did this because a lot of people resubbed after the gift was given and thus they could not get it. Based on feedback we just extended the gift to anyone who activated after the gift was given and to those who might want to activate to receive it.

That yesterday was Age of Conan's 6th months Birthday?

Yep we have been here six months already and how many things have changed for the better. The game has improved so much and the community has rallied around Funcom that had frankly some hard times in the first few months.

I am not saying things are perfect of course, but we are getting there and the mood is much more relaxed and people are actually returning to the game ( like I have predicted ).

Yes this *little baby* is now 6 moths old and I am still taken by it (like I have been for years)

Bargi was the first to welcome me on the Age of Conan forum back in 2006 the day I joined. He is not only a great guy but also a fair leader of probably the oldest guild (Free City) in Age of Conan, Lochlainn that was originally founded by Tarib

Like me, Bargi has been here day in and day out, trough good and bad times he is one of those that will be forever linked to Age of Conan and it's Community that he helped to build.

As I been saying for years now...it's all about the Community. If you get the right guys and girls together then half of the job is done. I am very proud of *us* here.

So people, please feel free to share your thoughts about a 6 months old Age of Conan and if you do, please don't forget our friend Bargi that is 40 today!
